Gwen
Gwen was inspired by a man I once knew—a wandering soul shaped by schizophrenia, mystery, and something that felt ancient. To me, he was like a gnome from old folklore—not the garden kind, but the earth-dwellers of myth: keepers of forgotten places, messengers from unseen realms, quiet witnesses to the strange poetry of the world.
Gwen often spoke to himself, lost in a reality layered over our own. It wasn’t always easy to understand him, but there was a kind of rough magic in the way he moved through space—disjointed, yet somehow meaningful. He made me see differently, think beyond the surface, and consider that reality might not be as fixed as we believe.
This is a mixed media sculpture constructed of wood, galvanized steel wire, paint, tarot cards, repurposed materials, and a hand-woven beanie purchased from a weaver of Taquile Island in Lake Titicaca, Peru.
