Hi, I’m Gonz—a multidisciplinary artist based in Austin, TX. For me, art is a spiritual practice. Each piece I create is a meditation, a way of processing a thought, emotion, or chapter of life. My work is the physical echo of lived experience—something felt, worked through, and then made visible.

Spirituality has always been at the heart of what I do. I earned my first B.A. in Theology in 2011, driven by a lifelong curiosity about the divine. “God” has always been the elephant in the room—ever-present, unignorable. A world religions class I took during that time shifted my perspective and opened my eyes to the universality of spiritual experience. Since then, I’ve been fascinated by how different people and cultures engage with the sacred.

Art, like spirituality, has been a constant in my life—sometimes a calling, sometimes a beautiful distraction. I’ve been making things with my hands since I was a kid. Over the years, the mediums have changed, but the creative impulse hasn’t. I lose myself in the process, find myself in the craft, and make sense of the world through creation.

A few years ago, I chose to make art my full focus. I'm currently pursuing my second degree—a B.F.A. in Studio Art—and continuing to explore, refine, and challenge my practice every day.
