G.W.A

$300.00

G.W.A – Gorilla With Attitude
My obsession with apes and chimps kicked off back in 2011, when I built my first full-sized chimp sculpture. There’s always been something in them I connect with—raw, expressive, unfiltered. G.W.A (Gorilla With Attitude) is basically a self-portrait in gorilla form. I’ve always been a bit of a travieso—loud, restless, curious, always stirring the pot. Like the gorilla, I don’t move quietly. I take up space with a little swagger and a lot of heart.

This piece also pulls from a specific time in my life—Denver, around 2015. I had just moved there and landed a fabrication job, thinking I’d be welding steel. Instead, I got dropped in the glass department. My supervisor, Spike, was a wild one—goofy as hell, blasting old-school hip hop or Joe Rogan on the speakers, always talking shit, always laughing. Bobby was back in the paint booth, head down, Wu-Tang full blast. Every corner of that shop had a character, and the whole place felt like organized chaos.

I was living just a few miles from the shop and biked to work every day. Those rides became something sacred. The air was crisp, the light always shifting. I’d weave through side streets, cut across parks, take detours just to chase a feeling. That rush of wind, that sense of motion and independence—it made me feel like I owned my mornings, like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

G.W.A is all of that—attitude, motion, sweat, and spirit. It’s about claiming space, making noise, and riding hard into whatever comes next.

The sculpture is mixed media, constructed from galvanized wire, reclaimed materials, and Apoxie Sculpt, then brought to life with layers of hand-applied paint

Dimensions - 12.5”Hx11”Lx 7”D.
